This design is both very convenient, and the ideal design. It was used in a cubby the size of a small drawer, which was the only remaining space in which to install the T.P. holder in a bath designed for efficiency and maximum storage. The single post makes roll changing a snap. The item I purchased is for toilet paper, not kitchen towels, and is correctly sized for one roll of toilet paper.
